The Bryan Flannery Band is recognized as one of the top bands in the greater Portland area, not only for drawing huge crowds to local clubs, but also because of their ability to keep their shows new and fresh every time they take the stage. With a driving rhythm section and off-the-cuff, inspired vocals, the band frequently infuses a new verse or style of music into an original song they've played for fans many times before. As the host for this year’s Clear 101.7fm Mainstage, you will see Bryan perform both as part of his group, and during several solo segments between other performance throughout the day Saturday.
The State of Jefferson experience features a unique multi-instrumental blend of horns, strings, and all things groovin'. The groups draws from the musical genres of Jazz, Reggae, Bluegrass, Funk and World Beat, featuring diversified original and cover music, and carrying a message of peace and fun-filled harmony. The State of Jefferson provides a high-energy, entertaining show suited for people of all ages.
Growing up a skinny preacher’s kid in Spokane, Washington, Tyrone Wells was discouraged from listening to pop music and only exposed to gospel. Little did he know a decade later, the roots of soul would become a key element of his passionate, irresistible and utterly unique songs. Combining pop, soul, and rock, Tyrone sings about true love, war and heartbreak with equal power and sincerity, coming across as a voice for a generation that’s both idealistic and confused.
By early 2006 after five years in the music business, Wells was regularly selling out Los Angeles clubs like the House of Blues, The Viper Room, Troubadour and The El Rey Theatre and people in the music business were taking notice. Now signed to Universal Republic Records, Tyrone is touring full-time and his infectious, soulful voice and undeniable songs are being introduced to people all over the country. Wells said, "Whether I'm in a coffee-shop down the street or on a national tour, I'm grateful to be doing what I love."
For the past year, Intervision has single-handedly created a groove epidemic in their hometown of Portland, OR. Combining elements of soul, rock, jazz and pop, the quintet is earning lofty comparisons to bands like Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, and Jamiroquai, yet have created their own intensely unique sound.
In April 2007 the band released their sophomore album to sell-out crowds in the River City, "Shades of Neptune", reflecting a mature evolution of a band that is setting itself apart from the pack. Showcasing the super soul-powered vocals of lead singer Paul Creighton, rich harmonies and several of the city's best studio musicians, it is already turning industry ears their way. The Oregonian's Pop Music Critic, Luciana Lopez says, "Sweet, mellow, jazzy and soulful…the disc is laid-back and danceable, and man, does it ever get in your head (and I mean that in a good way). Don't believe me? Take a listen."
While 2006 brought this band to the forefront of their local music scene, 2007 promises to break them to a whole new level; with dates scheduled regionally, they have only begun to fulfill their promise of bringing fresh sounds to eager ears and booties around the world.
From the banks of the mighty Willamette River comes Dr. Theopolis, Portland's finest funk ensemble. Get up and dance, the Doctor is here to shake you right out of your skirt with his coup de party. Funky? Yes. Sexy? Yes. Smooth? Oh yes. Fabulous? Quite. Delicious? Only the tastiest will do. The group consists of 8 funky and free boys who are here to make the mood right and get it on. EZ Money steers the ship as the head MC. His bro, Cecil B. Pimpington the third, follows on vocals and tenor sax. On their right is Mr. Bone Dangles, bass player and backing vocals. Beware his shoes ladies. One is not enough. On trumpet and keys is G-Bomb, hailing form Eugene by means of the funk highway. Wham and bam then slam some ham. The sexiest man in all of Portland, Notorious PhD, lays down beats like no other.
